birder, beware.
So many opinions on birding! But seriously, there are so many opinions on birding. I have mixed feelings about JFranz because I think in many ways he’s my proximal other (the this-is-trying-to-be-observant-and-clever-but-is-actually-kind-of-just-whining grumpiness), but there’s also a lot of self-loathing going on in that assessment (it’s definitely not an “I am going to make the cover of Time” kind of self-identification).
Anyway, this essay for Slate by Laura Helmuth is yet another opinion piece which we can add to the great canon of Things We Think and Feel About Jonathan Franzen literature.
Agree? Disagree? But how do you feel about the birds??
