top 10, 20(x)200.
At my (temporary) place of work, we all were asked to send our top ten prints released on 20x200 this year. As Ms. Jen Bekman has spoken of on her blog, my coworker David already posted his, and here now are my top 10:
Budapest Zoo (Douglas Friedman)
I can’t exactly place what it is I love about this piece, but it speaks to me. I purchased it for myself as a Hannukah gift (don’t worry, I’m going to get myself socks, too). That building is so wonderful, and oh, hey there, mr. elephant.
Feral Church #2 (James Griffioen)
Speaking of architecture, this image resonated with me because of the subject matter. I come from a town where the ivy grows on brick buildings. It’s a bit of a defining feature of its institutions, if you will. The overgrown, abandoned edifice in this picture is captivating. The church in the foreground contrasted with the house and trees in the background make this picture balanced, yet somehow slightly not. Finding solace even in unease - a feral church indeed.
RO-0011-25 (Bert Teunissen)
I hear nick Drake and Bob Dylan when I look at this; with some Jose Gonzales and Grizzly Bear. You’re in a woolly sweater. You’re heading home, or leaving it. Welcome to the open road.
Ideal Bookshelf 364: NYC (Jane Mount)
Because I’ve read every book on that shelf.
Old Camera (Todd McLellan)
Pictures of cameras. #meta. Part of a wonderful series in which the artist deconstructs and rearranges the old analog tools and toys of the past.

You’re most likely familiar with the Starn brothers’ work thanks to their installation on the roof of the Met last year, Big Bambú. The snowflake series has been so popular this season, and in a December without snow, this is a great way to catch a flake.
Oranges (Jennifer Mason)
Who doesn’t love a still life? I believe it was a very wise man who once said, “why is life worth living? … those apples and pears by Cézanne.”
Lexington and 53rd Street (Jorge Colombo)
His work in the New Yorker has delighted me for years, it’s the best building in the city, and my grandma lives 16 blocks away.
Golden State Freeway/San Fernando Pass; from Los Angeles 02.12.04 (Michael Light)
My brother moved to LA in September, and I’m hopefully going to visit him in a few months. I plan to drive up the PCH. This photo gives me the great twitch. Light captures so much movement in a still moment. Grand and majestic, full of color in black and white, this image captivates me.
North of the Tennis House (Joseph O. Holmes)
Back here on the East Coast, this is what we can expect in the new year… Holmes captures the silence after the storm. And the brave souls who dare disturb the peaceful, pristine terrain while the rest of us stay inside and drink hot cocoa. Urban hikers, we salute you.
Those are my top 10, take a browse at the site and come up with your list! Remember, art is good for you, and for everyone.
